I bought these cause the straps going across the top of my toes on my other shoes that I use for west coast swing started getting loose like they were stretched out. I have very slim foot as it is so it's not do to my feet but when I dance now my feet slide through the straps making it hard to do certain steps so I figured I'd getting something without openings and I choose these and I'm very glad I did I have worn them a couple of times now and they are holding up
