Honestly I think this would be a good microphone to get started with about anything that uses a microphone.I do have a more expensive condenser microphone to compare it too and a different budget dynamic microphone. This microphone with the wind guard on it produces a nice sound without picking up too much background noise. It is better sounding and built better than my other dynamic microphone. If your using it with a pc you will need an audio interface.I really do think this would be a good microphone to get started with about anything as far as, podcasting, gaming, or singing. Of course I would recommend looking up options and reading reviews.Good budget microphone.

On the good side, the mic appears to be well-made with a metal body that can take some abuse rather than the plastic often found on cheap mics. I also like that it has an on/off switch. I compared the sound of my own voice through this mic to a Sure SM58, a music industry standard for live performance which costs more than 4X the price of this product. The sound is relatively smooth and I didn't notice any harshness in the higher frequencies, however the low end response to my bass voice was rather boomy due to a pronounce proximity effect. Proximity effect is the tendency of all dynamic microphones to over-emphasize lower mid-range and bass frequencies when the source is close to the mic. That's not such a good thing for singing since it's important to sing directly into the mic to avoid feedback while getting sufficient volume. Because of that, I would say that this mic is best suited for use to amplify the voice of a speaker at a lectern where the speaker's mouth is usually farther away from the mic than it would be when singing. Female singers or high tenors may have a different experience.

I find it hard to fathom how a mic of this quality can be made, shipped and sold for this price point. The mic comes with a XLR to 1/4 inch mono phono cable. I ditched that right away in favor of an XLR cable with that connector on both ends. That gives a balanced connection and could eliminate some noise one might encounter with the included cable. Not all will have the XLR connection however, but if you do, that is the way to go IMHO.The mic has some weight to it and feels pretty solid. The on/off switch has a good feel to it. I have 2 mics that are similar to this mic. One is a Shure SM57 and the other is a Blue 100. The Blue mic lists on here for $90. The Shure mic is about $100. Considering this mic is about $20, it comes in at an incredible savings over the other 2 mics. I did a simple voice sound test and the mic sounded fine. I would have to do a far more extensive setup and use a tone generator to see more of what this mic is capable of. There are limited specifications and no docs for the mic, so it is hard to compare specs with the 2 mics I already own. I would hope my more expensive brand name mics are better in sound quality and SPL. But, from my voice test, it might be hard to tell the difference.I did a little testing and the sides of the mic offer good sound rejection. This mic is a top addressed mic and true of many dynamics, you might have to nearly eat it to get the level out of it you might desire. I might add the equipment I plugged the mic into is a top of the line RME AI well north of $2K. So anything not found clean in this mic's testing would be the mic itself. I found no such noise. All in all I am pretty impressed with this mic and figure it might be a good deal at even double the price. To me it is a keeper!P

Tl;Dr: This mic is fantastic but the packaging is lacking.Okay, I nabbed this because I'm a bit of a music gear hoarder, and I wasn't expecting much given how small the brand is, but upon receiving this, the mic has a good weight to it, the on/off toggle switch has a smooth action with a satisfying click, and the capsule housing is incredible for this price point (estimated at $20 at this time).Included was a 1/4" TS to XLR Male cable, a small faux leather zippered pouch, and the M9 itself.Let's talk sound quality. In a relatively quiet environment, this sounds excellent. I've recorded some audio through both this mic, the Weymic M9, and another dynamic mic in the same price range, the Behringer BA 85A. I kept both mics the same distance from my lips, the width of one balled fist. And, to the best of my ability, I spoke with the same speed, volume, and words. If you review the two screenshots, one in Audacity and one in RX 11, you can see that the sound is pretty close, with the exception that the Weymic M9 appears to be a couple db louder than the BA 85A. The spectrograph shows that frequency response wise, these are pretty similar, and the waveform shows that the M9 appears to be slightly more sensitive to transients and plosives. Now, for the one gripe I have with this mic, the packaging. This was shipped in an unpadded brown bag, and if you look at the picture with everything in it, there's not a shred of bubble wrap, shredded cardboard, packing peanuts, or even just fitted cardboard frame. The mic is shipped inside the leather sleeve and a plastic bag, and the XLR to TS cable is shipped inside a plastic bag. That means there's no shock protection for this at all in the packaging. Just a box with the items stuffed loosely inside it.If anything, the fact that this mic arrived functional and unscuffed is a testament to its build quality, which is incredible. One other note: upon first arriving, this mic had what appeared to be scuffs and scrapes on the outside. You can see those in a couple of the pics. But, I scraped at those with my fingernails and all those "scuffs and scrapes" turned out to be some sort of rubbery adhesive residue which came off cleanly just from scraping with my fingernails. So, no penalties there.I'd give this 5 stars but when shipping an item like this, some sort of shock protection is absolutely necessary, so I'm going to have to deduct a star for that. Otherwise, this mic is incredible.
