I was looking at much more expensive bags as I wasn't sure if this would be warm enough for an early spring back packing trip. It packs fairly small for bottom compartment of a rucksack and reasonably light. I would say the temperature rating is pretty accurate. I woke up one early April morning with a frost on the tent and was still warm enough, although I did have a bag liner. If you like to be super toasty you would probably need something lower temperature rated or just put a layer of clothes on.

Very comfortable and warm, especially for the weight. You won't find better without spending hundreds on a true down sleeping bag.

This is a first impressions review of the Vango Treklite Ultra 600 mummy sleeping bag. I will update this review once I have used it.Okay the box arrives and my first thought is that the wrong item was sent. The box was much smaller than I was expecting and probably because most sleeping bags I've ordered in the past are not quite as small as this one. I say small but I mean that in it's compressed state. More on that later. Now lets be clear. I am in my forties, 5ft 8in tall. My chest measures at 46.5 inches, My arms when in the cross your heart shape ( which I'd most likely be sleeping in ) measure at 52.5 inches. I'm a shade over 16 stone and yes I do have a bit of a belly. I say this as It's very difficult to measure yourself up on whether a sleeping bag will fit you or not. Unless you have something.....or in this case someone to compare to. Which in this case is me.I ordered this sleeping bag with a half hearted attitude. I wanted something small when compacted in to it's stuff sack and yet wouldn't make me feel like I'd been eaten by the skinniest snake in town.....I do like a little bit of wriggle room. Even if it's just an inch or two.In fact it's only been this last week ( while in lockdown and enjoying some holiday time ) that I've been using a conventional sleeping bags zipped up. To get me used to the idea of being more constricted and whilst a mummy bag would be even more so. It actually wasn't that bad. I had basically acclimatised myself to not sleeping spend out.......bad image I know. But good preparation for sleeping differently. The revelation was that it ( Vango Treklite Ultra 600 in Red ) did fit me.....This on my birthday was a pleasant surprise. Hooorah just enough room to be able to sleep and the material feels wonderful.. And yes I can get my little bold head in to the hood and whilst my belly is a little in the way as far as comfort in concerned. Ever more reason to go on a bit of a exercise regime.....Once the birthday is over of coarse. Now don't get me wrong there isn't a huge amount of room available. Enough to move around slightly. And yes maybe I might sleep with the zip down a few inches and have my arms out as they rarely get effected by the cold. That said even with my dimensions I gave earlier I can fit in this. If it does get cold and you know at some point it will. Then at least I can fit my whole body in this sleeping bag.....And it won't fill half of my rucksack and leave me wondered what I can leave out.So yes on first impressions. A very nice sleeping bag. It's 22 degrees C at the minute and duty calls this evening so no time to get a full test as of yet. But when I can I will update further. I do hope this helps as trying to find a sleeping bag that will fit can be a nightmare. Thanks for reading.UPDATE: I have just used this sleeping bag for the first time. It is very comfortable and apart from the hood which I didn't use or feel any need for. It is late May 2020 after all and we've had some really hot weather of late. Though the nights are chilly. Using the hood just felt a little over board and whilst using few pillows ( yes I do like some height ) it felt awkward trying to combine the two anyway. This is the first time I've used a mummy bag.Now it was a chilly night, not Brrrrr its too cold kind of night. But definitely a chill of around 6 degrees C. And whilst I wasn't cold in this sleeping bag I wasn't exactly toasty warm either. I was wearing a pair of shorts and a T-shirt. Which I thought may have been okay.So after my first impressions I have decided to drop one star ( from 5 down to 4 ) simply because I thought it would be warmer than it was. I was comfortable and the space was just about right for me even with both arms in the bag and not outside like I mentioned could have been an option at a push earlier.Don't get me wrong I had a good nights sleep in it. Once I'd had a play around with the hood and whether to use it or not and the toggle to tighten the shoulder baffle. It was a good nights sleep and maybe I will try it with jogging bottoms and a light weight fleece tonight. The material feels good, almost satin like and as is the zip which works just fine. So yes I would still recommend this sleeping bag but only if your going to be using it on those really warm nights, or have some sickness to your sleeping attire.I hope this review helps as I too know the struggle to find a sleeping bag which suits my height, size and comfort requirements. It's not easy.....So I hope this has helped in some way.
