Rotosound seem to get slept on a little these days with all the other manufacturers out there but you really can't go wrong with these strings especially at the price. Great tone and character. There are certainly brighter strings but these do give nice highs and mids with solid low end.

I've been a longtime Rotosound user, and honestly I feel that they produce the best bass guitar strings in the business. The stainless steel 66's are reasonably bright, without being harsh at all, and the tone and output across all of the strings seems very even. RS 66's always have a unique tone that is somewhat complex and the best way I can describe it is it's "layered". I was very happy to see that Rotosound offers this 5 string set in extra-long, because I have these installed on a precision-style bass with a 35" scale, through the body (perfect fit). Most 5 string bass players know that it isn't always easy to get a good feeling low B string with a tone that isn't muddy, but these strings definitely deliver. The only negative I can give these at all is that their roundwound design is a little harsh on the fingers compared to some other brands. But if you're looking for a high quality string with an unmistakable sound, I strongly recommend these Rotosound 66's.
