My band gigs up to 3x a month and we play in many different venues, bars, festivals. This head doesn't have any coating that will wear off. It tunes for that classic snare sound Thunk tone, and snap with great articulation. It reacts very well to all kinds of environments. I use one moon gel to get rid of that sour overtone and it's just a great head!! The "sweet spot" is the WHOLE HEAD! Highly recommend this one!If your looking for that classic snare drum sound without the midrange tone that hits you in the sinuses, this is it! I"ve used the Remo Coated Emperor and the Abassodor, and this head is a notch above those!

I like the embedded texture instead of the coating that wears off.
