We've got a Dyson (for the carpeted rooms) and a VAX lightweight for upstairs but I needed something to keep plugged in a kitchen all the time to do the floor. So we got the Henry as it has a 12m lead. It now sits in a kitchen cupboard and comes out a couple of times a day (multiple kids and dogs). The Henry is easy to assemble, intuitive to use and very powerful. It uses bags which I thought I would hate but they are brilliant and cheap. And no dust when you empty it. It picks up more than the Vax and is about the same as the Dyson. However, it is much easier to move around, is lighter and tidy's away smaller and more compact. The kitchen floor is tiled and it covers the tiles easily, low noise and no scraping. It also has a high and low noise setting. I use the low when the baby is asleep nearby and its great. The high setting is more powerful but also not that much louder so it is normally on that setting. Overall I would say it is about the same noise or slightly less than the Dyson. When the Dyson breaks (we are on our 3rd in 7 years) I would replace it with another Henry.Highly recommended.

henry is henry. Nothing can t beat henry, or his comercial version. I used for a month now and i still have the first bag,i love this hoover, good suction, easy to use, easy to clean, why you need a dyson or something more expensive? The lady where i work bought a hetty, the pink one. For the last 2 years she had the dyson the one with the ball. She said is not good, to complicated to use, and clogs all the time. Me i will stay with henry, good value for money, and i am sure it will last for years. buy henry, don t buy expensive crap, buy the real think. You never lose with henry, even my wife agree with me now, and she think henry is best.

We bought a larger version of this vacuum, (the company called it Edward), back in 1989 but Edward finally died after 25 years of faithful service. We were pleased enough with the product to buy another similar but smaller one. The company seem to have made some minor adjustments to the model and although it is smaller than Edward, it has a fairly powerful suction. The wind in cord makes it nice and neat and although its all made of plastic, the hose does seem to last. One of the changes is that the bags are no longer paper. I found them easy enough to fit (with care) but my spouse was not good at it and would tear them occasionally. The cloth bag is much stronger but of course more expensive. This product is well priced and very effective.

Really happy with this purchase - it is a very good hoover that has functioned perfectly since being bough (touch wood). The hose is long enough to reach the top corners of rooms where spiders may reside (unless of course you live in a mansion) as well as allow you to hoover the floor without needing to bend down all the time. The wheels are really easy to manoeuvre around - be that on carpet or vinyl flooring. The cable is super long as well - if you plug it in the middle of the floor space on one of your floors of the house you can easily hoover the whole place without needing to unplug and then plug elsewhere. On the minus sides there really are no genuine replacement bags - I have bought the alternatives and they are not at all like the original bag that was supplied. I am really amazed as to why there are no replacement bags made by the manufacturer, but I guess that's how things are - just really not pleased about this. The other issue I have is that when the handle for easy lifting/carrying is up the cable is really not coming out of the back of the hoover. I guess it cannot unroll properly and that it is why it sticks to the length you have unrolled before bringing the handle up. This is an issue because I do not like to pull the machine by the hose, I would rather use the handle as I do want to keep the hoover in good condition as long as possible. However, I do not want to be tripping over cables either, so I do not feel like unrolling metre plus just so there is enough to roll the Numatic around. Hence I am stuck with choosing between long cable - safely rolling and hard rolling - just right-length cables. Not a choice I want to be forced to make.Having said that the pluses of this machine far outweigh the minuses, and even with those minor issues I still think it is a great product, superb buy and a must have hoover. The only thing better in the hoover world would be (I guess, as currently I have not tried it) a more powerful Numatic! :-))

Who would have thought I'd be sitting here reviewing a vacuum cleaner!?Sick of having to buy a new vacuum every couple of years, and having worked out that Dysons are pretty, but fragile, I decided to opt for a Henry. And I'll keep it short: it works. It is simple, strong, and will suck the carpet off your floor. It has the longest mains lead I've ever seen, which means I can do the whole house AND my car without having to unplug once. The replaceable bag is the size of a small country, and for the power it has, it's pretty damn quiet. Don't be fooled by what appears to be a measly power rating - trust me, you will not have felt anything with more 'sook'. AND, it smiles at you when you open your cupboard. If a Dyson was a car it would be a new Range Rover: too expensive, too complicated, too flashy, and a lot to do with the so-called prestige name. Henry, on the other hand, is an old Land Rover: tough as you like, does the job without fuss, and designed to go on for ever.Buy one. Or two!
