I bought a steel table leg from a certain large DIY store (you can do it!) and mounted it on a cut down kitchen cupboard door. The clamp was used on the leg now acting as rigid column. All told these parts cost about £10. The door was from their off cuts/discards.Using the clamp and a zombie tripod head I now had a slide duplicating set up for use with a macro lens. I saved ££££ compared to the so called pro duplicating stands. It was used to digitise about 200 old slides. Excellent result.

habe mir mit Hilfe dieser Klammer einen Instrumentenhalter fürs Mikrofonstativ gebastelt. Läßt sich schnell anbringen/abnehmen und löst sich nicht von alleine.

This is a very solid clamp. The only improvement I would love to see would be for the shoulders of the 1/4x20 mounting adapters be set into the clamp in such a way that the mounting surface was flush and even across the mounting face of the clamp. This would allow the mounted accessory to sit flush against the rubber o-ring helping maintain stability and avoid the threads backing off. (See attached image)Other than that one observation, this is an excellent clamp.
