When you think of the British weather, you think of its variability on hourly, daily, weekly and monthly timescales. To help you out, clothing, like coats, trousers over shorts, shorts over trousers, gloves, sandals/shoes, jumpers, T-shirts, etc, are all decisions we make daily. Included within the decision-making process will be whether or not to take an umbrella with you on the way out of the house. If you do consider taking an umbrella with you, then you should be taking this ultra-light but strong umbrella with you. It has everything that you need from one. Small enough to carry in a bag. Strength in the stronger winds we encounter from time to time in the UK. Wide enough so that you and a friend can walk side-by-side and stay dry. Opens in one second at the push of a button. It even has SPF 50 protection. Now, if that isn’t enough, just go out and get wet, because this is the only umbrella you’ll ever need!Sadly, I’ve not been able to fully test this, as we’ve had no rain or strong winds (typical British weather!), but I have had my wife enjoy spraying me with the hose. It worked brilliantly! The price at review of almost £15 feels just right, and offers excellent value for money.Five stars (can I award six stars?) and highly recommended.

There are various different versions of this folding umbrella, and I'm actually unclear what the difference is between this beige 1 version and another beige 2 version, as they both seem identical to me. (It also comes in apricot yellow and light blue). I have been impressed by its feel, build quality and look. There is honestly nothing to dislike here, and it's a certainly well worth the current price of £9.99. The umbrella is very compact and lightweight when closed: only 11" long and 200g, so it fits comfortably in my coat or shorts pocket. When fully open it is just over 21" long and some 30" in diameter (or 35" if measured diagonally). The opening/closing mechanism is secure and smooth, boding well for its longevity. The shaft and skeleton are made of aluminium alloy and fiberglass but not sure what the actual umbrella canopy is made of. It's described as high density technology fibers which means nothing to me. Certainly not the usual nylon or polyester in any event. Whatever it is, it is clearly quite hitech. Rain just rolls off and is not absorbed in any way through the fabric. So you don't get damp or wet. Also because it doesn't absorb any water it is really easy to shake dry/dry off when you want to put it away again. The outer canopy is very light beige in colour, but unusually the inside is entirely black. Apparently in addition to being entirely waterproof, the fabric also acts as a UPF 50+ sunscreen material, which could be useful I suppose in certain situations. Anyway, long story story, the umbrella is very easy to carry about, and it does a very good job of keeping you dry. It also looks simply looks good - bright, cheerful and stylish. The only negative I can find is that if the wind gets at all breezy the umbrella blows inside out. However, you can get round that to some extent, by holding its outer edge in position with your other hand. When it did happen to me though, at least the umbrella did not break and was easily pulled back into shape. All in all, this is a very good lightweight folding umbrella, at a very decent price. The clever integrated handle clip is a great idea.

This is a very useful small, compact umbrella. I have not, as yet, tried it in the wind or the sun but it worked perfectly in the rain. The push button mechanism for opening and closing was easy and efficient. I am not sure if I will actually be using it in the sun but the fact that it has UPF50+ Sun and UV Protection is plus. The clip handle, I am sure, will prove very useful for hanging it up. My only criticism is with the case, it is very loose fitting with no press stud or velco type fastening and, if you were carrying it clipped to a bag or rucksack, I would imagine that the case would fall off. However, at under £10 I consider this to be an excellent buy and would recommend.

I've only used it in the sun so far, but it worked great. I was reading in the garden, which is really hard when the sun is blazing onto the page. This blocks it well. I'm sure the Great British weather will mean testing in the rain won't be too far away! It definitely seems a lot more stable than your average compact umbrella. The button opening is swift and strong, I think this adds to the construction strength because it has to be solid enough to take the force of the quick release. It has a clip on the handle making it versatile even for small bags (you can just clip it to the strap)

I'm really pleased with this umbrella. It's reasonably lightweight - about half the weight of similar items I've purchased in the past, so very portable. It has a strong, effective push-button mechanism on the small handle for automatically opening and closing it. The umbrella is made from a water- and light-proof fabric, in a warm cream shade on the outside, and with a black-coloured lining-layer on the inside ( which should reduce the amount of light-reflections bouncing back onto the face and upper body). Similar items are often have a double-layer of fabrics, so are much heavier. It's a great alternative to sun-hats - I dislike wearing something hot in the summer, and also an umbrella doesn't crush your hair. It is, of course, much bigger than even a wide-brimmed hat, so provides more protection from UV rays - particularly important for anyone with pale/fragile/older skin, and anyone wishing to avoid the ageing, damaging effects of strong sun.The umbrella is also waterproof, so doubles as a conventional umbrella providing rain protection.
