This product is really not the right thing for my application, and that's my fault for choosing it. That being said, it should still provide some info I need- which is the battery remaining percentage. The one function I really want from it, and it's really inaccurate for that application... I really need to use a device with a shunt and a bit more high tech. Overall, it's a voltmeter and has some other functions that may be of great use- such as an hour meter- but if you're looking more for a monitor for a battery bank, this is not really the appropriate device for that. I've followed the directions perfectly, and the power remaining feature is just nowhere near accurate- and tested against another device, I found that other devices CAN provide that information more accurately.3 stars is NOT a negative review- it's merely stating that it does what it says it does, but doesn't represent an above average deal or capability.

Wiring this up is more challenging than most. It comes with the plug and 8 pins (you supply the wire - 16g would be good). They aren’t weatherproof in any way, but given the fact that they should be shielded from the elements in your install, you should be good. The wiring diagram is a little odd, going in reverse order to how I read plugs (8,7,6,5 - bottom row, 4,3,2,1). I got it backwards the first time so my colour code is off, but I didn't do any damage to it.As far as I can tell (and it works for me) 1 and 5 go to ground, 7 goes to positive all the time (3mA draw*), and 2 and 6 go to positive with the key. Alternately you could likely do 2,6,7 all to the key as well. When running with the backlight it draws 50 mA3 and 4 are connected when the key is on and switch is lit up, and disconnected when pin 2 is de-energized.8 is to tell it if you’re running a 12/36 V system (no wire, or 24/48 V system - negative wire). The battery gauge percentage and bar only seem to update at key on, and stay at that percentage, however I haven’t put a lot of hours on it yet either.4 stars based on the battery gauge not updating (not an issue with a lawnmower, but more so with a inverter setup). I am maybe missing something and if I find out later I'll update. Pressing the keys sometimes the screen fades out in the area, and it is a little complicated to setup/wire. The battery high/low just flashes at the user, and the screen is challenging to read at different angles. (Specifically up/down)* Interestingly, there is a battery backup on it, and even when it arrived it was “on”. You can scroll through the menus and such. I’m not sure if the 3 mA I’m measuring when it’s “off” but powered - or even the 50 mA is partly due to charging the battery. Neither are excessive in my opinion, but lawnmower batteries aren’t always oversized either.
