This set of paintbrushes arrived in a plastic bag which is resealable so the paintbrushes are easy to store before use. There is a total of x7 paintbrushes in the set which is made up of x2 ‘no 8’, x2 ‘no 6’, x2 ‘no 4’ and x1 ‘no 2’. This offers a good range of different sizes. The brushes are made from goat hair which is very soft and have a good level of absorbency and have birch wood handles which are smooth which any splinters or rough areas. They also have a nickel-plated ferrule. The brushes can be used for a variety of crafting applications including painting, glazing and even gilding. Personally, I have been using the brushes with watercolours for a background wash (as they are best for larger surface area rather than detailing) and I’ve found that they hold paint well. However, I imagine that they are equally suitable for acrylics, oils and gouache as well. They are ergonomic to use and bristle fall out has been fairly minimal (although so far, I have only been using a no. 4 and a no. 6). They have been a pleasure to use and have been easy to clean and shape after washing through. Priced at £9.98 at the time of reviewing, these are nice, soft paintbrushes ideal for working on larger surface areas. They are easy to work with and are good quality for the cost, I would be happy to recommend them.

These are pretty nice brushes for the price. They're quite thick and the goat hair is very soft and bushy, which may or may not be an advantage depending on the medium you use. I think these work well enough for watercolour which is what I like to paint with although they're not firm enough for smaller details. They're comfortable to use and so far I've not had any loose bristles come out. At £9.98 I feel the price is reasonable for what you get.

There is a nice range of sizes in this set of brushes for blending different areas or different sized pictures. They do a good job with acrylic paints (I have not tested others). Unfortunately, they also shed a lot of hair. I painted a background in my art journal and had to pick about 10 hairs off the painted page and then, when I washed the brush and patted it dry, there were hairs all over my cloth. The shorter, wider one is the worst – the thinner ones seem to shed less.

I recently added the Himmlfel 7-piece Premium Goat Hair Brush Set to my art supplies, and they've quickly become a favorite. The natural goat hair bristles are incredibly soft and hold paint exceptionally well, making them perfect for blending and creating smooth transitions in my artwork. I've used them with acrylics, watercolors, gouache, and even for gilding projects, and they've performed beautifully across all mediums. The variety of brush sizes in the set offers great flexibility, allowing me to work on both detailed areas and larger washes with ease. The brushes feel well-balanced in hand, and the construction seems durable, with no shedding noticed so far. Whether I'm working on canvas, ceramics, or applying gold leaf, these brushes have delivered consistent and reliable results. They're a fantastic addition for any artist looking for quality and versatility in their tools.
