*** EDIT - 3 years on and these stands are still as solid as the day I got them. I wish I could give them 6 out of 5! ***I purchased these stands to replace a cheap set of three that I had purchased only a few months before and which had already developed faults. You get what you pay for at the end of the day, and so I decided to pay for something better - and that's exactly what I received. As the band I play in performs two or three times a week the stands will see a lot of action and I've no doubt they will perform admirably. The construction is solid and well designed and the materials used are robust. You can tell from the mere weight of the stand that it will put up with some abuse. In addition they are easy to erect, with the 'EZ clutch adjustment' on the main part of the stand making it very simple to adjust the height quickly. The 'Quick-N-EZ' microphone attachment, which is a device that remains attached to your microphone (it has a threaded end to connect your microphone clip) and then can be quickly clipped on to the stand, is no use to me. Personally I just leave the mic clips on the end of my stands so the device is pointless, however if you are using a different microphone set up such as a condenser in a cradle this may be of more use to you. The end of the mic stand is also threaded to attach the clip in the conventional manner - so it's not a negative point at all, it's an added bonus for those who can make use of it.Pros;Solid build using strong materialsWell designed - the usual weak points around joints and screws are solidly constructedQuick and easy to erect and adjustCons;None! Conclusion; If you're looking for long lasting high quality microphone stands you've found them, and they're not really that much more pricey than the lower quality alternatives. I'd recommend them to anyone.

Ok, This is the way as mic stand should be made. Not too heavy, but sturdy. Easy to adjust, easy to take apart, and reasonably compact when folded. It is worth the extra $ in my opinion, especially if you are going to be setting up and taking it down regularly. The only slight ding I would have, is that the bracket for the boom is not quite as sturdy as I would like to see due to the way the boom angle clutch operates (it basically squeezes the two ears together). It should be OK, but we will see. The boom in/out adjustment is very good, and easy to operate.
