This review is for the GODOX Continuous LED Video Light (SL60IID, Daylight). I received a free taxable sample of this light to review in my search for a continuous light I could use for my product and portrait photography. The light arrived in a nicely branded and decorated rectangular box with pictures of the product on the two large side panels and a few product details highlighted on a side panel. Inside the box and nestled between two pre-cut Styrofoam blocks was the light body, a reflector, a lamp cover, power cord, and instruction manual. The light weighs 1,413 grams with the bulk of the weight distributed towards the front of the lamp. The main body of the lamp is about 7 1/2" long with a rounded 4 1/8" square at the back and a slightly flared 5" diameter circle towards the front before the heat sink and Bowens mount. There is a conveniently located carrying handle set into the rear of the light at about a 60-degree angle and with a 1 1/8" x 3 1/4" opening. Set into the bottom of the light and slightly closer to the rear is a quick-release sleeve and knob that can be easily mounted and angled onto a light stand.I primarily have used this as a continuous light source for my product and portrait photography, mounting it on a light stand and pairing it with a softbox lighting modifier. This daylight version was a good fit for me because I typically light my shots with natural light when possible. The consistent 5600K color temperature and CRI 96+ make it easy for me to use this lamp as a primary source or to provide fill lighting. This consistent daylight source has also been great in giving me more options to work with after dark and also when working with tricky reflective surfaces.Bonus quality of life note: from my experience, the light retains the last settings used including brightness value even after switched off and disconnected from power.Having worked a few gigs with the previous model, the smaller form factor of this model was one of the more immediately noticeable and appreciated improvements. In truth, I haven't really taken advantage of the special effects or used the Godox Light App that much recently. As tested, the app does synch with the light fairly quickly and I found it easy to set up and use scenes which is a huge plus if you're using multiple compatible Godox products for lighting. Regarding fan noise: the fan noise is noticeable within a few feet of the light in a relatively quiet setting. The sound reminds me of a low soft cheering noise that's easy to tune out and most likely wouldn't be picked up by a camera mic.All in all, the SL60IID is a nicely constructed and consistent continuous light source. I highly recommend it as a solid and affordable lighting option for product and portrait photography, especially if you don't already have a reliable continuous light source.

If you've been around long enough to use incandescent studio lamps, you know how hot, heavy, and fragile they can be. This lamp delivers a lot of light without those downsides. It's bright, lightweight, delivers a lot of light, and is barely warm to the touch when operating. My use is a bit unusual: I'm using it in a small booth, bouncing it off of the fabric wall to create a diffuse key light for video. Working in that small space, I very much appreciate the low heat output and the quiet fan.The spectrum from this lamp approximates traditional photographic "daylight" temperature of 5600K. I say "approximates" because LEDs aren't the almost perfect blackbody radiators that the sun is (and incandescent bulbs are). But it's a high-quality light that works well with digital photography and video. The lamp comes with one reflector, giving you the choice of a very wide flood (without reflector) or a spot (with reflector). You can find many other types of reflectors, diffusers, and such that will fit the standard Bowen mount.Brightness is fully adjustable from 0-100%, and the lamp has a small selection of special effects (none I find useful, but maybe you will). All can be controlled either from buttons and knobs on the back, or from an app over bluetooth. In all, a very welcome addition to my booth.

This is a very good light at its price point. The manual controls are smooth and even and the lighting is highly accurate. It is a beautiful medium powered floodlight that will give you a very large amount of light and a small compact package. The controls are simple and intuitive and easy to use. I hate having to pull out an app to use my lights. It also comes with a remote control which again makes it very easy when your light is high up in the air.The app of course is one of those dodgy apps that you’re not sure about the security and it requires registration which is a huge fail. I will not touch the app but fortunately it has the remote control so unlike many other lights you still have access to the full range of features if you don’t use the app. Otherwise I would’ve taken off mini more stars.. I do not like being forced into using an app when it’s not necessary. And I like direct control over my lights. The quality of the light itself is gorgeous and claims to have a CR I have 96 and from what I can tell this is accurate. My light meter is plus or minus one and it looks like it’s reading at 95.And uses a standard computer cable which is very simple as we have many of those lying around. The heat management system seems adequate and it’s quieter than other lights. The mount is sturdy and solid and so I don’t have any worries in that regard.I was tempted to takeoff another star because it doesn’t come with a case. Lights like this really need to come with a case but it’s better than a three star light so I’m not gonna takeoff another.Overall this represents a fantastic value for continuous lighting. It has all the features of more expensive lights

I'm a budding hobbyist photographer getting back into it after almost 30 years away.Having received this light and utilized it a bit, it way outclasses me. This is a professional level piece of gear. Back in the day the separation lines were pretty clear and the astronomical price differences reinforced it. These days you can get professional grade gear in some cases for consumer/hobby money and I feel like this light is one of those examples. I've not taken advantage of nearly all of its features but from what I've used, I trust the rest of the features would work quite well for those who know what they're doing...I've had no issues using and mounting this light, and changing the brightness. I don't have a remote and don't really want to tangle with (yet another) niche bespoke app cluttering up my phone... given my needs. On brightness... I know quite well that wattage as it relates to LED's is way different than incandescent but for some reason every time I see "60w" in relationship to this light... I forget the difference for a moment. Maybe it's just my old school memories of photo lights. Anyway, the second I throw the switch on this, I'm reminded! (It took more hunting than it should have, but I finally found that 60w of LED power gives off around 8400 lumens. Which would require a 750 w incandescent!)I know this is a weird way to review something; it won't be much use to demanding users but if you're a hobbyist out there just looking at "hey, neat light." Yeah, it's neat. Just because it's (seemingly) inexpensive does not mean that it's cheap or low featured. Don't be shy, get it. If you're like me you might not maximize it, but I'm just here to say "so what."Maybe a pro might think a bit before awarding that fifth star. In my case, from my perspective, I'm rocked. Enjoy.~Cheers!
