Really good protects my knees and arms

Purchased as a Christmas gift for my son. He does MMA classes a few times a week. Not a lot of choice in knee pads. Everyone at the gym has these. He used them about twice a week for less than three months. One knee torn with regular use. I would go with another brand and give them a go instead of these. I already didn’t love the colour, but the quality is even worse. Very disappointed.

Anyone who is sparring at my MMA/Muay Thai gym uses these, and the elbow pads, and recommends them. I bought the regular size because I'm not a big guy, and I don't think I have particularly large legs. They were tight when I put them on, but I assumed knee pads should be tight so they don't actually move around when you're throwing knees. Once they're on they're tight and fairly comfortable.Unfortunately, the 2nd time I pulled them out of the bag I saw the fraying on the edges. I realized I must have been pulling on the fabric, when I should be trying to use the pad itself to put them on because they're kinda hard to get on. From them on I'd mostly push the knee pad on using the bottom of the pad, and did very, very minimal pulling on the fabric. I'd mostly push it up, adjust the fabric to get it out of the way, then push again. I mostly use these on clinch days, so once a week. These knee pads look like the pictures after using them 5, maybe 6 times. I do not know if I should have gotten that larger size, once these are one they feel like what I assume knee pads should fit like - tight, but no discomfort and they don't slip.They work pretty well, and I haven't seen a ton of other options on the internet, but I can't recommend these based on the really poor quality of the how they are attached to the sleeve. Maybe the bigger size would work well, but other guys at the gym have to tape around the top and bottom every time which seems like a pain. I would recommend a person looks at other options before trying these.
