Very happy with how sturdy this feels. Sure it's plastic, but it's not flimsy, and feels like it would take a very high drop to crack it.While it's too soon to fully test it, as nothing is ripe yet. I did do a branch of my blackcurrant bush, they're berry shaped, but still firm and green, but it was REALLY easy!I have back pain and a love of fruit, and with how easy this was, I've already gone and bought more fruit bushes! So perhaps beware, you'll buy more plants!

I ordered this handheld berry picker from the Amazon brand CheurYae. Its too early in the season to properly test it yet - it is only April so not yet berry season, but I am excited to give it a go. This is a substantial item that arrived in good condition in its cardboard box. The underside of the item basically consists of a flat grid of metal, ie multiple rows of metal prongs. there are no sharp edges because the metal is continuous, ie each prong consists of two lengths of metal looped around. They do have a bit of give in them, but not too much. The idea is to trap the fruit-bearing stems between the prongs, and the action of pulling the tool through the bush will remove the fruit, depositing it unharmed into the 'cage' holder. This is clearly a time saver and I'm sure good technique would further speed up the process - remarkably effective. The handle at the top keeps your hand away from thorns as much as possible but you probably would want to wear a thick gardening glove as well to be safe. This item would work best for fruit that ripens all in one go, rather than fruiting over a longer season. You don't want to rip out underripe fruit that would be otherwise delicious if only it had remained undisturbed. All in all I reckon the best method would be to work out which areas of the bush are uniformly ripe and keep an eye out for underripe berries as you go. This mixed approach may be a little slower than this tool makes possible, but it would minimise the possibility of getting carried away and harvesting underripe fruit.A good tool, especially for those bramble bushes!Four stars
