I couldn't put the book away...

It was a very easy read. After a point, the names can get confusing. But it's writtenn in such an enjoyable way that it doesn't really matter. As someone reading in 2023, I wish this book had been able to touch on Haaland, Bellingham, Brandt etc. But of course, the book came out before these events.

I have followed German football for over a decade and found this history of BVB a really well researched and entertaining read.There are other cult clubs like Union Berlin and St Pauli but for me BVB have a really fascinating history and this book documents it excellently.

Very good book by a talented author. Uli Hesse’s story telling is entertaining. An important book on one of football’s iconic clubs
