Was advised to get myself some scales by Richer Sounds as my expensive turntable came with a tiny fiddley see-saw type scale. This is much more straightforward to use, seems accurate and is great value for money.

El articulo me llego en tiempo, venía muy bien empaquetado. Traía su propia batería y una pesita de 5 g. para su calibración. Desde el principio funciono perfectamente. Lo recomiendo mucho.

The item arrived promptly and well packed. Included was the scale itself, a small calibration weight and a neat storage case, plus a card with instructions. The instructions are in tiny (4-point) print, so unless you have very good close eyesight you may need a magnifying glass to read them! The translation into English is far from perfect, so the process describing calibration in particular is a bit confusing. However, with a bit of trial and error it shouldn't take too long to work out how to operate the scale.In practice I have used the scale to set various tracking weights for my turntable tone arm. It is relatively easy to position the scale on the turntable, so that the stylus can be lowered onto the weighing point, and probably easier to operate than a traditional balance scale. The display is large and clear, providing a near instantaneous readout. To ensure accuracy it is a good idea to check the scale with the calibration weight once it has been positioned on the turntable, before measuring the tracking weight.What I can't tell, which is of course crucial, is just how accurate the scale is, as I have no independent means of checking this. The 5g calibration weight supplied with the scale produces consistent readings of around 5.00g (varying from between 4.96g to 5.03g), but I can't tell whether this weight does in fact weigh 5g. Nor can I check how accurate the scale is in the 1g - 2g range, which is the recommended tracking weight range for most high-end MM and MC cartridges. It does at least produce consistent readings, within plus or minus 0.04g, on repeated measurements with the same tone arm weight setting. Assuming the readings are accurate across the specified weight range of the scale, it does represent good value and a good investment to protect and get the most out of your cartridge and vinyl.
