Ho messo alla prova l’AEGTEST AEG-1223 per un paio di giorni fra cucina domestica e bombola GPL del camper e sono rimasto sinceramente colpito.Rapidità impressionanteDopo i 30 s di preriscaldamento, il sensore reagisce in mezzo secondo: basta avvicinarlo alla giunzione del tubo e l’ago del display sale, l’LCD vira subito al rosso e il cicalino aumenta di tono proporzionalmente alla concentrazione . È uno dei pochi rilevatori sotto i 150 ppm che dia un feedback così graduato.Doppia sensibilità e LED integratoFra modalità “Alta” e “Bassa” si passa con un clic; utilissimo per distinguere una micro-perdita da un normale residuo di combustione. La torcia LED frontale illumina giunti e raccordi negli spazi angusti del vano caldaia: niente più lampada in mano!Ergonomia topPeso piuma (≈120 g), impugnatura gommata antiscivolo e clip da tasca stile multimetro: durante l’ispezione sul tetto del camper non ho mai avuto la sensazione di poterlo perdere.Autonomia furbaCon le due pile AAA incluse ho totalizzato circa 10 ore di utilizzo effettivo; lo spegnimento automatico dopo 5 min di inattività evita dimenticanze.Affidabilità verificataHo spruzzato spray a base di propano/-butano su differenti raccordi: il rilevatore ha segnalato correttamente sei micro-fughe che ho poi confermato con acqua saponata. Zero falsi positivi in ambienti puliti.ProRilevazione ultra-rapida e graduataDisplay a colori leggibile anche al soleLED integrato e clip da cintura molto praticiAutonomia eccellente con comuni pile AAA(Unico) ControAl primo avvio il beep di preriscaldamento è un po’ forte, ma si disattiva in un attimo.In sintesi: se cerchi un rilevatore portatile affidabile per metano, propano o miscele GPL, AEG-1223 è un piccolo investimento che può letteralmente fare la differenza tra sicurezza e rischio. Lo consiglio senza riserve a chiunque abbia una caldaia domestica, un camper o lavori in officina.

Questo rilevatore di gas è quello che cercavo per il mio camper!La forma è quella di un matitone con tanto di clip occupa poco spazio. Le batterie sono ministilo quindi super comuni.Il funzionamento è velocissimo e la sensibilità è davvero buona.Io l'ho preso per il mio camper per verificare che i collegamenti delle linee gas non abbiano delle perdite dopo tanti anni e devo dire che ha funzionato alla grande. Utile anche la lucina led... ovvio che non si vede il gas che fuoriesce ma magari aiuta a vedere screpolature in angoli bui o in zone non facilmente illuminabili.Lo consiglio!

This bodes well for the quality of the tester itself.The tester is very simple in operation, compact and has a clip to fit into a pocket. The display is clear and colour coded (green for safe and red for danger). There is also an audible alert that bleeps faster the greater the danger.Although it doesn’t use a rechargeable battery, the advantage of disposable ones is that they will last a long time with occasional use and you don’t need to worry about charging them regularly. There is a low battery warning on the display and the detector will auto power off after 5 min to conserve battery.I tested the detector in fresh air and it showed no measurable gas. I then held it close to the spout of a butane gas lighter refill bottle while releasing some of the gas. It immediately alarmed with a maximum reading and red display. When I moved the detector away, it went back to green within a few seconds.Overall, at under £10 at the time of writing, I can’t really fault this detector.Highly recommended.

This gas leak detector pen includes 2 x 1.5V AAA batteries and a user's manual. At the bottom of the pen you will find a cap. Unscrew and insert the 2 batteries with positive + side facing down, then screw the cap securely.This device is easy to operate, it features a power button, a gear button and a bulb button. To turn ON simply long press the power button and wait for the warmup period. You will see the display and arrows going up and repeating in a loop. Once the warm period is reached, the device will beep. By default, sensitivity threshold is set to high, which is shown with the "H" on the display. To switch between high and low sensitivity, just press the gear button (second button). At the high setting it will be sensitive to 50-500 PPM. At the low setting it will be sensitive to 500-1000 PPM. You can turn ON/OFF the built-in LED light by pressing the bulb button (third button). The LED is not too strong but enough when used at a very close range.According to the listing, this detects combustible gasses. It should detect propane, natural gas, methane, gasoline and more. As the amount of PPM increases, the bars indicator on the display will rise accordingly. It would have been nice to include an actual PPM meter as you cannot know the exact amount. Normally up to 50 PPM is a safe range. A safe range is indicated by a solid green display, while a red indicator indicates levels at which symptoms or harmful effects can occur. If the display is solid yellow it indicates caution, some side effects are possible. Outside the safe range the pen will emit an audible beep and will update in real time as the levels drop. Once back in the safe range the beeping stops. After a period of inactivity, the pen shuts off on its own. You can turn it OFF at any time by long pressing the power button.I have run a few tests using different sources ranging from gasoline, alcohol and propane just to see that this detector is doing something and working. It is worth noting that you need enough concentration of gas for it to start detecting something. Simply opening up a canister of gasoline filling the room with a smell was not enough to detect anything, as this device is sensitive to 50 PPM at minimum in the high sensitivity mode, so in theory there may be leaks of gas, but outside those ranges, it will not detect anything. I noticed you have to get extremely close to the source you are testing, literally only millimeters away and wait a few seconds for it to detect something. It might take a few seconds or longer. It will react much faster if the concentration is high.On all tests I have made it managed to detect the gas even though it took a few seconds to show. So if the device is not detecting anything and you know there is presence of gas, it simply means you are not holding the pen close enough or the concentration is not high enough, but the pen definitely works. It is good enough to detect concentrations high enough to be toxic, but fortunately nobody will stand that close to a leaking source for it to be of concern as gas dissipates in the air and the concentration is diluted. However, if this device is able to properly detect at a very close range, it means that in theory it should be able to detect a high concentration in ambient air, long before it reaches a level that is considered a risk for explosions.From the price point this is a good value and when used properly it can help avoid big problems ahead of time. Without running the tests, I was discouraged at first because it was not detecting anything but I then figured out you need to move the pen very close to the source, and it did work. It's not as simple as turning the gas valve on and pointing the pen. The key is concentration level in the ambient air around the sensor. Given the results of my tests I am convinced that this is a useful product for most consumer applications.

The AEG-1223 Gas Leak Detector came in a nice box, that contained the leak detector and two name brand batteries. I kidded my wife before it arrived that I was going to use it on her when we watched television each night. She didn’t laugh, but my buddies did later.I took the unit out of its packaging and put the batteries in. I was surprised how hot the batteries get when you use the detector.I purchased this for a specific reason. A few months ago I replace the ignitor on our gas stove. Subsequently, every time we use the oven I think I smell gas. My wife contends she doesn’t smell anything. I got this to determine once and for all which of us is right.I set the oven to 200 degrees and waited for it to reach that temperature. Then I opened the door and turned on the gas leak detector and put my hand in the oven. I absolutely hate it when my wife is right, but according to the detector, there’s no gas leaking in our stove. Darn! Well, at least I can go to sleep at night and stop worrying about the house blowing up.The gas leak detector comes with a clip so you can hang it from your belt, or inside a pocket. It has an led light, and makes an audible sound when turned on or off, or if it detects gas. It’s a handy little device that seems to do its job. Excellent value.

This arrives with batteries (2 x AAA batteries by energizer) which is always a bonus and the gas detection works. It takes around 30 seconds to 'warm up' not sure why but the pen gives an audible beeping when it's ready to use with a green back-lit display. The display also shows up to 6 digital bars depending on gas concentration with all 6 bars showing a heavy concentration of gas. In addition the pen can be set to a high and low sensitivity setting but tbh I'd only really use this on the high setting because it detects smaller leaks (any gas leak is dangerous so better to detect even the slightest leak)Doubt I'll ever use the low setting tbh.The pen does however seems to be a bit on the slow side detecting gas. I put this directly into the path of the cooker burner with gas on high and it was very slow to alert me. Yes it did eventually start beeping and the screen went from green to yellow then red with all 6 bars showing so I know it works but you have to keep the pen in place a little longer in my opinion.The pen also features a built in LED flashlight although it's not powerful it would be ok for dark apertures. The pen also has a clip so you can clip it to a shirt pocket or something else.This is currently £9.99 at time of review which in my opinion is reasonable and it does work although a tad slower than some I've used before.It's easy to use too so anyone can use it.I'd say every home should have one of these to periodically check their gas connections and also be beneficial for static caravan owners etc who use those gas canisters etc as well as gas barbies etc.A little tip for those who want to locate and narrow down a leak is to use some water with dish soap in it and dab it over connections, joins etc and watch for bubbling. This helps to narrow down the location of the leak.
