Over the years I have tried hats in many shops. My usual problem is that standard (one-size) hats are too small for my head. I thought I would try this one, as it seemed to offer a suitable option. At almost 24-inch circumference, the size guide indicated XL, so that's what I ordered.Initially I thought I made a huge mistake. The hat was too BIG for my head - sitting over my ears like a bucket. However, then I noticed two little ends of ribbon coming out from under the inner brim tape. YES, you can adjust the fit by pulling on these ribbons. It only took a little tension and a couple of tries to get the hat fitting snugly to my head. Great! See photo of the ribbons and care label.I have not tried the hat on a long day in the sun, so cannot prove it protects my bald spot, but I see no reason why not. The weave is dense and the brim gives extra shade to the head too.Other aspects are all good. It comes in minimal packaging (just a clear plastic bag) and can be reshaped (if required) with a little steam or gentle iron. But I found that it sprang back into shape quite readily with no such intervention. The hat is well made and finished. The colour I chose was black, which is actually a charcoal grey.In fact, the only "flaw" I could find was a very small "join" in the weave, on the front right side. I've tried to photograph it, but if you can't spot it in the middle of the photo, that shows how subtle this is!Price-wise, this seems in the same ball park as most on Amazon, maybe a little higher. But I think it's fair value for what you get.

I'm not sure I like the "for big heads" description! but I like this hat. My head is 59cm - quite big! - and the L side fits adequately. It might be a smidge too big - but I think that will be fine on a hot day. It comes with a string/ribbon to make sure the hat stays in place on a windy day. In fact, there's also a tape inside the sweat-band, so you can make it a bit tighter if you want to by puling it and tying it up: that's a nice touch.The quality seems good. The hat doesn't really fall into the category of 'crushable': I think you'd want to try to keep it in shape, rather than pushing it in a bag, say, but it will probably tolerate a little bit of rough and tumble. It's pleasant to the touch,and will do the main job of keeping the sun away from my bald head - whilst setting a stylish note for the summer. The brim is fairly floppy, but not excessively so: it will give shade all round without falling into my eyes.

The hat is very flimsy to the point that a slightly windy day will have the brim flopping around. Given the price it was to be expected.

Ok quality vs price paid for the hat itself. Only issue was the strap broke which was a bit cheap and poor quality on second time used.
