First off, the product description is wrong. If you look into it, this is really a Graph Tech Model PQ-1200-00 Nut (Slotted, L41.02mm). It fits a jazz bass perfectly. This nut will last years. TUSQ is a great material, and well worth the extra cost compared to plastic.

I drastically underestimated how much sanding this required. I’m basic and have no tools at my disposal, just sandpaper. It took over 4 hours for it to both fit my neck and be the correct height. Overall, totally worth it. It fits and improves sound quality. Will buy again.

Make sure to go to Graphtech.com to check the size, string spacing and height for these guitar nuts before purchasing. This nut is high and is probably meant to be recessed into a deep slot, I didn't have a deep slot but I wanted mine to be high and I would shape it into what I wanted. It is tall and is exactly what I wanted. The harmonics sound louder and crisper with this nut. Overall, I am very pleased with the quality, ease of installation and also how easy it is to shape and fit into your bass guitar. I definitely recommend these Graphtech TUSQ nuts hands down!

First up: MEASURE YOUR INSTRUMENT TO BE SURE YOU HAVE THE RIGHT SIZE!!!Once you've done that, buy one of these that fits. This is BY FAR the most cost-effective upgrade you can make on a stringed instrument. They advertise on the tuning stability, and rightfully so because they'll improve that to an unbelievable degree, but my favorite feature is that they ring like a freakin tuning fork. I swear to whatever deity you want to worship, they sound WAY better than bone, and at far lower cost. You'll probably need to clean up edges and maybe the string slots if you're going way outside what they're slotted for (I tune B-E-A-D on my bass), but that's easier with these than with a bone blank. I use Tusq or Tusq XL on every guitar I have that doesn't have a Floyd nut, and on my stepson's Strat when we switched it over to lefty. Literally EVERYTHING. Measure your instrument, and put one of these on it. I cannot recommend Graph-Tech enough. They rule.

Hard to beat TUSQ, even if they are quite expensive.
