This ThermoMaven Ultra-Fast Meat Thermometer is 6” long, with a grip of 1 1/8”, and slightly over 1/2” deep. It has a nice weight of 2.22 oz (63 grams). It has a foldout metal probe 4 1/2” long with a slimmed point. The metal probe folds down into a slim slot which secures the probe and protects the tip. There is a single control button for °C or °F, and includes a 5 second temperature lock on the readout with a short press. The back side of the Thermometer contains the battery compartment, and requires only one AAA battery, which is protected in an IP65 waterproof compartment. This means that the compartment is protected against low pressure water such as splashes, but will not offer protection from immersion. The AAA battery is a common battery, easily obtained anywhere, whereas the disc batteries are not as available. Completing the back side of the Thermometer are 2 magnets which allow the thermometer to be attached to a metal surface for storage, and a handy Internal Temperature Chart, in extremely small writing, which provides recommended internal temperature for meats, poultry, and salmon. The thermometer temperature readout turns on when the probe is unfolded. It will provide instant readings (1 second) when inserted. The readout will also flip if the probe is turned in another direction, and will turn off on its own in about 5 seconds. It will wake instantly if moved. What sets this TheroMaven Thermometer apart is it slim design, light weight, auto-rotating readout, and its inclusion of a common AAA battery. Its instant readout is appreciated, as is the Hold button on the temperature readout. It is well designed and reasonably priced. Recommended.

At the time, this instant touch thermometer by 'ThermoMaven’ is $20.They have several on the market, all with slightly different descriptions, however I’m pretty sure it’s just the colour that is different… that was confusing and the main con.I’ve tried, tested and own a couple different styles of these (e.g. ones attached to wires, wireless and hand held) and this is my new favourite.Overall this is excellent in both quality and functionality. To turn it on/off you simply open/close the probe and you can switch between F/C, with a button press. The screen is a sort of silver-white back lighting with decent sized text (which also inverts if you flip the unit), so it has easy readability. It has a relatively long probe and the probe and unit both feel quite sturdy. It has rubberization on the back so it doesn’t slide on your counter. In general it’s well thought out. The only thing that I liked on other units that this doesn’t have is a ‘hold’ button so you can lock the temp on the screen so you can take it out and look at it.Accuracy wise, I tested it in both hot and cold conditions against two other thermometers and it was quick and accurate. I did notice the temperature on this would be rising and falling by 0.1-0.2 degrees while the others held steady. The temperature would also change very rapidly if I moved the probe in or out a bit, but these factors may just mean it’s more sensitive than my others.I really like it and would recommend.

Cleaning afterwards proved simple enough, a quick wipe and it was done. The way it rotates the display is quite clever; it makes checking the temperature easy regardless of the angle. It’s a small detail, but in practice, it makes a difference. It feels robust enough to handle regular kitchen use, and I can see it becoming a reliable part of my cooking. It certainly takes some of the uncertainty out of getting things cooked just right.

This is a no-frills temperature probe that’s well-built with an attractive design, it ultimately does one thing and does it well, which is read and display the temperature of anything you poke it into within a second or two. It’s got a reasonably sized LCD that’s simple to read at any angle or lighting condition thanks to the bright backlight that comes on when you power it up. The process couldn’t really be easier, pick it up, unfold the probe and then poke it into the middle of the meat you’re cooking and then read the temperature once it stabilises. The pokey end cleans up very easily in the sink and then you just fold it up again and store it away for the next use. While it doesn’t have any frills it does have the usual features and QoL things you’d expect for a kitchen gadget and meat thermometer. Notably the ability to attach to any magnetic surface firmly for storage, switch between C or F readings with a long button press and being able to hold the current temperature with a quick button press. The asking price of £23.15 is on the upper end when it comes to basic meat thermometers but assuming it lasts for years of regular use I wouldn’t have any complaints. Most of the generic cheap probes I've bought in the past have struggled to last 6 months, never mind a year, even with careful use. Obviously that’s not something I've been able to evaluate properly in the month I've been using this, so if I do happen to run into unexpected issues I'll be sure to update the review.
