Tapestry

80年代には某FM雑誌を購読していたのですが、その中にアメリカbillboardのTop100が載っていました。そこで長い間、当時10年以上チャートインしていたアルバムのひとつが、このCarole Kingの「Tapestry(邦題:つづれおり)」でした。他はPink Floydの「The Dark Side of the Moon(邦題:狂気)」だったと思います。当時は若かったこともあり、なぜ売れているのかわかりませんでしたが、社会人になって初めて聴いて、歌詞を読んで納得しました。今はジェンダーレスの時代ですから、いろいろな人に聴いてほしいのはもちろんですが、特にパートナーがいる人、そして女性に聴いてほしいですね。

Tapestry uscito nel 1971 rimane il suo capolavoro con delle vendite inaspettate, nel disco riesce ad inserire dei brani soft rock che hanno una presa immediata negli ascoltatori, brani come "It's too late" o ""You've got a friend" ne dimostrano e riesce ad interpretare una grande versione di Aretha Franklin come "Natural woman" non riuscirà mai a ripetere questo successo, forse perchè era impossibile.

Comprato il CD per affiancare lo storico vinile che custodisco gelosamente.Si tratta del disco più famoso e più bello della migliore cantatuatrice statunitense di sempre, se qualcuno non lo ha mai ascoltato scoprirà che molti brani famosissimi che conosce sono scritti da lei.La masterizzazione è buona, fedele al vinile tutto sommato e non migliorativa sempre al netto del calore che solo l:analogico può restituire.Visto il costo non ci sono scuse per non comprarlo. Come in molti casi appena ordinato sarà disponibile la versione in mp3.

Carole King earned her spurs as a production line Brill Building songwriter, producing a string of memorable hit songs for a range of other artists during the 1960's. For this, her debut solo album in her own right, she produced a cracking set of strong memorable songs, and it was an instant massive hit with the record buying public.It sold by the truck load , remained in the charts for literally years, a lovely set of strong personal songs, such as Will You Love Me Tomorrow?; (You Make Me Feel Like ) A Natural Woman; You've Got A Friend; and It's Too Late. Definitely one of the all time classic singer songwriter albums of all time, much loved, incredibly influential, the best album she ever released, absolutely stunning. She tends to use the piano as the lead instrument, rather than guitar, Danny Kootch was on electric guitar, and James Taylor on some tracks on acoustic guitar. On a few tracks there was more lush orchestration, to adorn these great songs, and Carole's singing is clear, true, sincere, the thread at the centre of things that ties it altogether beautifully. Along with Neil Young and Joni Mitchell who produced similarly fantastic albums early in their careers, this period was the strong peak for singer songwriters, and this is up there right at the top as one of the absolute best of all time.I originally had this on pre recorded cassettee (remember them) and only recently acquired this on CD, where it has been remastered, and has a couple of extra tracks added. it is like having one of your best friends come round to see you again after a long absence, and you pick up where you left off, a comfortable homely relationship, something special to treasure and cherish. Verry very highly recommended.

Timeless classic

Il pacco è arrivato entro i tempi stabiliti, il disco credo fosse nuovo (era fasciato nel cellofan) e non ho avuto problemi ad ascoltarlo. Le canzoni più conosciute di Carole King ci sono tutte, ed è veramente un album basilare della musica americana. Da avere!

La copia è buona anche il foglietto dentro è bello, non sapevo esistesse una versione Lirycs se no avrei preso quella dove c'è un secondo cd con delle registrazioni dal vivo degli stessi pezzi, sarà il prossimo acquisto. Lascio anche un commento su Tapestry : questo Album è un manifesto è l'anima di una generazione, non è la mia generazione ma quella di mia madre, non importa in quale angolo del mondo sei nato, la voce di Carole King ti tocca cuore ed anima è dolce piena e matura, le melodie e gli arrangiamenti sono semplicemente meravigliosi, raffinati senza essere pretenziosi, folk rock pop jazz e cassica fusi insieme. Ha fatto tanti altri album e questo è sotto tutti i punti di vista il migliore, non c'è un pezzo fuori posto ogni brano racconta una storia, ogni brano è un filo di quell'arazzo (Tapestry) non c'è un pezzo sbagliato. Carole King non è una cantautrice è La Cantautrice tutti ma soprattuto tutte le dobbiamo qualcosa, è un Albun senza età è senza tempo come Mozart.

Bought a new copy of this all time classic from Carole King to replace a worn out edition. Lovers of classic rock & folk/rock must have this one in their collection !

Storico album di Carole King, che sia un ottimo album non lo dico io lo dice la storia. Personalmente avevo memoria solo di alcune canzoni (ero un bambino quando fu pubblicato dall'etichetta discografica Ode Records nel 1971). Ora che conosco bene l'album completo, lo apprezzo ancora di più. Anche la registrazione a mio avviso è molto molto buona. In definitiva sono felice di averlo aggiunto alla mia raccolta discografica.
