120HZ! FOR REAL!:I was looking for a 2 port KVM that was DL-DVI compatible. At the time I couldn't afford a 1440P monitor but wanted to make sure I could use one some day. I ended up getting a 120Hz 1080P monitor (VG278H) instead. Only after it came did I realize that the specs for this KVM didn't say it supported 120hz. Guess what? It works anyway! [Note: 120hz at 1080p requires DL-DVI]I'm very happy with this thing. As far as keyboard emulation, I did what other posters here suggested and just used the built-in 2 port switchable hub for my keyboard and mouse.A WORD ON CABLES:One possible flaw: initially I was using a mix of DVI cables. Certain cables are just too wide due to the plastic around the plugs. You can jam it in anyway but that's probably a bad move. I swapped to "Nippon Labs Premium 10' Dual-Link Model DVI 10 DD" which I got for $10 each. I call this a "possible" flaw as if it allowed for wider cables they'd have to expand the box size, and I call the smaller size of the 2 port a real plus. That'd be like saying you're happy the world is round but sad that it isn't flat.KEYBOARD EMULATION VS "AUXILLARY" USB PORTS:The thing comes with 4 USB outputs: emulated keyboard, emulated mouse, and a 2 port hub that has to be detected by your OS each time you switch. This is basically the only way they could do this (not a design flaw, just the way things are). People on the reviews here said they had problem with the emulated keyboard port and suggested using the Aux ports, so I did not even attempt to use it for 99.9% of my tasks (please refer to their reviews).The only problem is that if you switch into, say, the windows installation process or if you're switching to a sleeping computer, the keyboard hooked to the "auxillary" usb port may not get detected (it's about 50/50 on my machines). It's as if I just plugged the keyboard into the computer (which is exactly as one might expect).I have a spare keyboard I keep hidden away for when I need it.SIDE NOTE ABOUT CONSTRUCTION:Also (not a big selling point but it's cool), this thing is easy to open. Since I'm not using the hot keys for switching between computers, I soldered in an external button-switch I keep hidden under my desk to toggle between computers. The insides are really well put-together by the way. It's easy to disassemble and put back. Best part: No "warrantee void" sticker keeping the thing closed!SUMMARY:I have to give this thing 5 stars: Robust construction, has features that aren't documented (120 hz!!! OMGGGG), works pretty much as you'd expect. I defer to others about the USB keyboard emulation problems. For me, this thing did all I expected and more.

I purchased this product to allow me to use both my MacPro and my MacBook Pro with my Apple 30" Cinema display. Unfortunately it failed to work with this hardware combination.I was able to get the MacPro display to work via the low resolution dvi port. However, when connecting the dvi-d port the display mostly flashed between a high-res image and blank. On the one occasion the flashing stopped the screen had numerous interference lines of randomly flashing pixels.The MacBook Pro was connected via Apple's mini-display port to dvi-d adapter. Although the MacBook detected an external monitor was connected I was never able to achieve anything other than a blank display. Additionally, the USB hub functionality of the switch appeared not to work at all when connected via Apple's mini-display port adapter, only when directly connected to the USB port on the MacBook.The switch has a dedicated keyboard USB connector that allows using hot-key combinations to control the switch. However, the keyboard driver for this port fails to map some of the keys on an Apple keyboard correctly. In particular the 'fn' key did not work, eliminating the use of the dual-use function keys at the top of the keyboard - something I use frequently. These worked fine when the keyboard was connected to a different USB port but then the switch hot-keys were not available.I have returned the product for a refund and, while it may be fine for Windows PC solutions, I would not recommend it for trying to connect Apple kit.

This 4-port StarTech DVI KVM is working fine, but not without a few issues.I'm using it to switch a Dell UltraSharp U2412M 24" 1920x1200 LCD display, a Lenovo keyboard and MS USB mouse between three computers:My primary machine with a Intel DX68DB motherboard running Win7-Pro and using the on-motherboad video at 1920x1200 works fine with this switch.An old Dell 4700 desktop running XP-Pro with an nVidia GeForce 7600GS video card at 1920x1200 switched the video fine, but would lose keyboard and mouse at each switch requiring a reboot to get it back. The fix here was to leave an old PS2-type keybaord and spare USB mouse (I taped over the optical port) plugged into the 4700 and tucked behind the desk. This kept the mouse/kbd "alive" during switching and solved the problem.A third machine with an old MSI nForce4 motherboard and ATI EAX300 graphics card running Windows Server 2003 would switch the keyboard and mouse fine, but would lose video at each switch requiring a reboot to get it back. The fix with this one was to replace the ATI card with an nVidia Quadro FX1800 video card. After the video card swap, the video kept working during switching.I'm giving this switch five stars, even though I had some problems getting it working. I'm putting the blame on several fairly old computers with old video cards and this KVM switch is working flawlessly now.Note that if any of your "input" USB connections can supply 5v power, you don't even need to use the supplied AC adaptor. It seems to work fine without it.This only thing that this switch is missing is the ability to switch input sources directly from the keyboard using a "hotkey" combination.

Buon rapporto qualità / prezzo.Lo chassis è costruito in metallo, la qualità ed il prezzo non sono male, soprattutto se paragonato ad altri prodotti con pari caratteristiche.Lo switch è abbastanza veloce, anche se ogni tanto si blocca.Dalla confezione non è uscita la spina italiana per l'alimentatore, quindi se lo acquistate mettete in conto anche l'adattatore.
