I ordered these just out of interest really, to see what all the fuss was about & whether they are any good as an eco alternative to the standard foam kitchen sponges. When they arrive in a tiny cardboard box, they look like nothing but as soon as you pop them in water they 'grow' to their actual size, which means they take up less storage space. The natural cellulose is tough, textured, absorbent & long-lasting. It doesn't split apart or disintegrate after a few uses like the foam ones so it does last a long time. It's easy to use one & pop it into the (dish)washer to sanitise as there is nothing worse than a germ spreading foam sponge on the side of your sink. The absence of plastic & the natural grey colour are all a plus & they can be used around the house as they don't scratch so are good in the bathroom. They are long lasting so I haven't had to dispose of one yet, although they state they are biodegradable. I can't find a guide to how long they take to degrade & although I did consider conducting my own experiment by burying one in the garden, I changed my mind when I realised they cost over a pound each & I only had 4 (the 8 pack is more cost-effective).A quick search revealed that natural cellulose sponges are either made from wood pulp which takes a couple of weeks to biodegrade or from plant fibres which can take up to 5 years to biodegradeFor me personally, I probably wouldn't rush to order them again as I prefer to use a cloth than a sponge as you can wipe over with a cleaning product rather than it foaming up in the sponge. I use 'fish-scale' microfibre cloths that can also be used once & thrown in the washer & I much prefer these to a sponge. If I've got to start rethinking my cleaning products & regime to make a sponge last longer then I'll stick to the cloths that I have reused for a couple of years.

Great pack of sponges which do just as they say. Managed to cut mine in half for the job needed, so I've twice as many to use! Definitely recommend

They come compressed saving load of transport waste. Simply put them in water and in seconds you have a great sponge. They don't have a scouring bit but that's perfect for what I wanted. Once expanded they're about 145 x 100 x 20mm so I may cut the next one in half, making them even more economical and environmentally friendly
