This unit is a bit of a different design than most others. It has a built in rechargeable lithium battery which you charge using a USB-C cable. It has that same coating that feels like velvet that was used on laptop casings years ago (hopefully this one will not become sticky with age.) It feels solid and has some weight to it, unlike the cheap plastic feel of other units.The outstanding feature of this unit is its' display. The bright digits on a black background are easy to read and fairly large. The unit automatically detected ferrous and non-ferrous substrates. It does not function on non-metal substrates. Both single measurement and continuous measurement modes worked as advertised.The unit shipped with films of 5 thicknesses. Each film is in its own baggie and labelled with its actual thickness, not just nominal thickness. For example the 100 um is labelled 99 um in my set. That's a nice touch for accuracy. The gauge does in fact read around 99 um when I test it against the steel sample disc provided. I did notice that you need to recalibrate the unit when switching to aluminum as it tends to read about 5 or 6 um thicker, but recalibration is an easy press of 1 button.Usage is simple with just 4 buttons on the front. Power, Calibrate/Zero, units and mode. I think this unit is meant to be held in your palm rather than with 2 fingers like other units I had tested previously. The sensor is on the same plane as the bottom of the unit and about 2.25 inches wide rather than protruding to a point like some other units. This might make taking measurements in odd curves a bit more tricky. Trying to hold the unit just with your fingers you'll either obscure the screen or end up pressing the buttons, so a palm-hold seems the only option here. If you're a lefty you might be able to grip that thicker case section on the left of the screen but as a righty I found the palm grip more stable.Overall a decent gauge. If you're used to holding one of these with your thumb and index finger you'll need to adjust that habit with this one or you'll frustrate yourself with the 2 aforementioned problems of blocking the screen or inadvertently pressing buttons.

Ein kompaktes und wertiges Gerät. Kommt in einer kleinen stabilen Tasche mit Reißverschluß, in der sich auch Ladekabel und die diversen Kalibrier Utensilien befinden.Ein deutsches Manual wird mit geliefert.Nach Start scheint das Gerät erst mal eine "Selbstkalibrierung" durchzuführen. Die von mir durchgeführte Kalibrierung hatte kaum Abweichungen zu beanstanden, sodaß man das Gerät bereits als kalibriert bekommt.Die Messungen am Lack verlaufen völlig unauffällig und präzise.Die Umschaltung von FE zu Bunt-Metallen erfolgt vollautomatisch. Man kann damit also sogar das Grundmaterial ohne zu Hilfenahme eines Magneten testen.Aussetzer, also keine Meßwerte wie andere Tester beklagen, hatte ich bislang nie. Man muß das Gerät nur präzise positionieren, was in manchen Ecken problematisch sein könnte.Für Autoschrauber ist das Gerät ein Muß. Natürlich gibt es wesentlich preiswertere Geräte auf dem Markt, von denen ich auch eins besitze. Davon abgesehen, daß die günstigen Geräte nicht kalibrierfähig sind, können sie oft auch nur ferromagnetische Materialien testen.Dieses Gerät ist sein Geld wert, und ein gutes Universalgerät, das ganz nahe an die Profiklasse rückt.
