As with all devices such as this, using them for relatively simple DIY tasks could quite literally save you a small fortune, but do bear in mind that this "MAXRIENY" digital multimeter is nowhere near professional quality. However, the device has near enough all the functions you could possibly require from a digital multimeter, and it would make a good addition to a home toolkit.Although it doesn't appear to be particularly durable, the device is reasonably accurate with all selected functions, with a backlight display screen for ease of use. The multimeter also has a torch function (should you find yourself working in the dark) and a convenient storage case, but other than that, it's a pretty basic device with average budget priced quality.

I really liked this!My previous multimeter for small electrical repairs (usually on my ancient hifi) is now forty years old and is one of those where you have to select the range to be measured so the needle (yes, I know they’ve been all digital for years) doesn’t go off the scale. Well, I was delighted that this one isn’t like that! It detects automatically whether you are measuring AC voltage or DC voltage, AC current or DC current, and resistance and continuity, giving the answer with appropriate resolution (exactitude), and all without selecting a mode or range. That alone was impressive to me!The unit is waterproofed, at least rubberised- though I’m not sure I’d trust a dunking in anything, but let’s face it, I’m not going to repair my stereo outside in a rainstorm anytime soon (and if I did, I’d not be expecting to do it twice!).A proper case is provided, so it can go with my tools without fear of damage - the case is similar to those you get when buying a Dremel type tool - softish, but with structure, much better than a drawstring pouch. In operation everything worked as expected. Detection of what was measured and keeping a contact to give a consistent reading were, well, ok. Sometimes I was a bit surprised, but re-measuring gave, in every case, a sensible reading, and I’m getting older so maybe I don’t quite precisely keep the contacts on point. The unit is battery powered, and I was pleased to see it used ordinary everyday triple-A batteries. My old one used one of the square 9v batteries and other than in my smoke alarm, I never seem to have one of those spare. I think the triple-A solution is spot-on, because anything rechargeable will have long discharged (and maybe gone into a deep discharge) before I use it again. I only use a multimeter a couple of times in a year.Overall, I was really impressed. This is a very small device, much smaller and neater than what I had, but just as accurate, sensibly packaged, powered by something we always have in the house and with a clear, illuminated screen and a buzzer I can hear.Excellent product, really recommended.

Few complaints from me about this multimeter, at least at a price of just £21 (after 29% voucher). It offers a comprehensive set of functions, switching automatically between the six key ones, and everything seems to work well. It can even function as a as a non-contact voltage tester. The backlit screen is a good size and easy to read. There’s a torch too. And, importantly, auto-off is reliable. The leads are adequate and, unlike another reviewer, I found readings to be consistent. They can’t remain attached to the meter when the meter is in its case, however. The instructions are rudimentary and rather small but well-written in good English. The required pair of AAA batteries and a screwdriver to open the battery compartment are supplied. The meter is CE-marked (self-certified?) but that’s all. No UKCA or RoHS. A possible concern? I don’t know. The included case is welcome, although you may stop using it when you discover how hard it is to squeeze the leads back in there with the meter. Very annoying. I leave the leads out.The meter isn’t suitable for professionals or serious amateur use. Apart from anything else, I’m not sure it would stand up to knocks very well. For casual users like me however, based on limited use so far, it seems to make a good buy.

I don't use a multi-meter every day, however I do like a fully featured one as I have lots of hobbies and need a device that is flexible, accurate and above all else easy to use. This model I found to replace my prior meter ticks all the relevant boxes. In terms of features this one does everything I wanted and more. Of course it has the usual abilities to measure current, voltage, continuity, etc... But this model also has some less common functions. For example it has a temperature sensor that allows you to check temperatures accurately. It also has the ability to detect live current in a lead mains lead without having to have access to the copper - very useful if you are trying to track a positive lead among many of the same colour or something. In use it is simple in the extreme being able to auto detect what it is you're measuring and set itself for DC voltage, AC current, DC current, capacitance etc... and also set the appropriate range to give you the most meaningful reading without having to twist knobs or press switches. This also brings me onto the display, many meters tend to fall down in this area having a very basic display of just a few digits and maybe a few other small indicators. This meter has a lovely big, bright display with backlighting (green or red) which displays all the possible information you could want.In terms of build quality the casing is nicely sized to make it ideal for hand held operation and it comes with a rubber casing to help protect the meter. Included you get all the usual things such as test leads, the aforementioned temperature probe, a case, even a pair of AAA batteries - which is another nice change, no more expensive and difficult to get 9v batteries.Overall this is a nice package, easy to use and in tests as accurate as I would hope, or at least it reads the same values as my other meters. Nice addition to my tool kit!
