Really comfortable straight out of the box, didn’t require any breaking in, but didn’t last as long as I would’ve hoped.Used every day, but after a couple of months leather began to peel, and then after a couple more months the soles had to be glued back down and the laces snapped.Still going back to order more of these for a replacement however, as the comfort makes them worth the price

Great comfy warm well made boots. Good grip, strong zip.Feel comfortable right out of the box. I wear them in all conditions, rain, ice, summer heat. I'm on my feet most of the shift ( Paramedic) no rubs or pinching. My 4th pair in six years. When they get a bit scruffy ( never worn a pair out yet ) I sell them on Ebay for 20 quid. Loads of life left in them just a bit scruffy to wear with uniform.

Totally love these boots. Have worked in enforcement for 20 years & tried these many years ago & have since tried other styles & make but none come anywhere near these. They are literally like wearing soft slippers on my feet. They just fit perfectly for my feet anyways & I have never needed to break them in. They are well made & just so comfortable & don't fall apart. I will buy this brand & style as long as my career lasts or they stop making them. This is my 3rd pair in 20 years, although I have switched around with other makes & styles but these are by far the best & worth the money every time. Don't bother trying save a few quid on a cheaper brand because these are the best.

I have bought lots of pairs of Magnums over the years, starting with the Classics nearly twenty years ago after seeing adverts in Police Review. This is probably my fifth or sixth pair of Panthers. I tend to have two pairs on the go at any one time; the newer pair for everyday wear and the older pair relegated to general gardening and hiking duties. The side zips are great for easily getting the boots on and off. However, over time, the tight fit of the boot means that forcing your foot inside can begin to damage the inner lining particularly around the back of the ankle. Using a shoe horn can get around that but, hey, who carries a shoe horn all the time!? I generally find the inner lining begins to wear at about the four to six month point. At the same time the lining can begin to get very smelly especially if you are wearing the boots on a daily basis. Adding a charcoal insert can offset that a bit but the smells will get worse especially if water gets into the boot.Yes, the outer layer of the boot is effectively water proof and you can march safely through most puddles in an urban environment. However, if you step in anything deeper than your foot you will get some water ingress through the lacing and through the zip. The inner layer will generally absorb any dampness but that will translate into smells over time.On the plus side these boots are incredibly lightweight. You can easily run, jump or sprint in them and I have on a number of occasions without any chaffing or discomfort. I regularly wear my boots for several hours a day and I have never ever had any rubbing or even a blister, even from new. Distance wise, I've managed 20-24 miles a day in Magnums without any discomfort even in a single pair of plain cotton socks.Grip is excellent in most conditions and on most surfaces. There is some risk of slipping on wet stone or metal surfaces but you'll get that with any boots. I have never worn out the sole on any Magnums I've owned, including the Panthers. As noted above, the inner lining will give out some months in but I've never had any issues with the outer layer. However, I have had Panthers where the join between the outer toe cap and the main boot begins to split but this generally only occurs getting on for twelve months of daily use.Although there is the side zip, you will have to lace the boots properly initially to ensure a snug fit. As I generally wear the boots over the cuff on my trousers, I've found that there can be bulge around the ankle which I don't find aesthetically pleasing. I've tried several different lacing patterns over time to offset this and keep the boots tight. Commando lacing is probably the best I've found for fit, to date, but it does mean you have a lot of spare lace. Usually you would wrap this around the boot but you can't do that and still use the side zip. That leaves the options of cutting the lace to size or else tucking it inside the boot. Of course, the tighter you lace the boots around the ankle area, the more you will get the wear to the inner mentioned previously.Overall, I've been exceptionally happy with my Magnum boots. Yes, they are not going to last a lifetime but I have found that they will remain comfortable and and usable for at least a year.
