There is a version of this that has a plastic thread at the bottom. Don't buy that one. This one has a brass threaded piece. It's worth the extra couple dollars. Also noticed that this valve reduces the noise level of the tank refill compared to the factory one that it replaced. Pretty happy with it. Easy to replace for anyone that has some level of facility with home repair / DIY...

Saved hundreds of dollars, by installing this part to stop my toilet from running. Husband was adamant we needed to call a plumber. Google installation process which took all of 20 minutes or less..trust fluidmaster!

My plumber told me that the pro version existed. He said the pro version has the red cap and metal (brass) threads. Otherwise, it is pretty much the same as the consumer version (black cap and plastic threads). This was straightforward and simple to install (particularly since it replaced an existing consumer version). Interestingly, the nut that holds the flush valve to the tank is still plastic, so just be careful threading it onto the brass part - any undue stress on the plastic nut might result in a leak down the road. The other nice thing is that this is only $3 more than the consumer version at a big-box hardware store!

Even though the valve I removed had a grey color, this model worked perfectly. Nice and quiet now and it doesn't squeal like a mouse being caught by a cat!

Installed perfectly in just a few minutes and worked as expected. No instructions are included since this is a 'Pro' grade part but it's ridiculously easy to install. The devil is in the details though and you need to be careful about hand tightening the fill valve to the tank as well as the water line from the wall to the bottom of the fill valve.There is a reason why these parts don't have flats for wrenches but rather wings for your fingers, snug things down finger tight but don't get carried away.I installed 3 in my house and all of them are working perfect.(Edited formatting due to phone display variance)
