Ran this halogen at about 100W upside-down and the adaptor melted after about 15 minutes.Perhaps it was the heat ascending that broke it. Note that the plastic melted but the ceramic in the middle was fine.Perhaps with some kind of G6 extender this adaptor can still be usable, however this quick failure was not trust inspiring.

The bad reviews generally seem to be down to a misunderstanding of the product. These are not voltage converters, they are merely presentation converters. They allow a 12V G4/MR16/MR11 or similar lamp to be fitted into a lampholder designed for an E27 base. They DO NOT convert 230V down to 12V, so fitting a 12V lamp into one of these when connected to mains voltage will result in your picking bits of glass from out of your eyeballs. Where I use these is on decorative garden lighting such as bollard lights which have been designed for 230V operation but which I have brought down to 12V via a transformer allowing me to then fit a 12V lamp with a GU5.3/GU6.35 lamp base. This means a fitting designed for mains power can be run at 12V which is safer as it presents no shock risk or tripping issue should water get into the fitting through weathering or vandalism. I could leave these out of the loop if I could find a 12V E27 LED lamp that I trusted, but usually a G4 lamp is easier to obtain locally off-the-shelf and by a reputable manufacturer. In short, if purchasing these, you'll likely also need a transformer or LED driver to go with them.

il pacco contiene 3 adattatori da e27 a mr16/gu5.3 come da immagine, ho installato l'adattatore nella lampada e27 e poi ho messo un'alogena mr16, si è illuminata per 1 nanosecondo e poi bruciata, ho riprovato con un'altra alogena mr16 cambiando adattatore e ha fatto la stessa fine. mi dico magari un'alogena con l'adattatore non è molto compatibile e riprovo con un mr16 a led usando ora il terzo e ultimo adattatore, oltre che bruciarsi la lampadina è saltata la corrente. fortunatamente sembra che non si sia rotto niente oltre alla lampadina, la lampada è ancora funzionante.ora capisco che una lampadina potrebbe anche essere difettosa ma 3...secondo me il problema è ke una e27 usa 230v mentre la mr16 ne usa solo 12 quindi al contrario di quanto dice la descrizione del prodotto è solo un adattatore ma non converte la corrente, il che lo rende inutile visto che buttando dentro 230v in una lampadina che ne usa 12 senza convertirne il voltaggio non suona come una cosa intelligente.
