This was too large for my purposes (tool bag backpack) also quite heavy although I’d imagine if you need to file large metal billets or use for machining it might be perfect

I needed this to file down an aluminium casting and my old dull files weren't up to it. This was worth the small investment to make the job achievable with ease. The etymology of its name of a "bastard" file has many amusing versions.

A good quality file for the money. I don't know how they make a profit as the materials they must have used to make it, are not the usual 'one use' rubbish that a lot of other manufacturers seem to churn out these days. It also has a good comfortable handle too. Brilliant! :)

Got this to sharpen mower blades done the trick great ,chunky handle and robust 100% recommended blades now cut effortlessly even thick grass as you can see from the picture a clean and precise cut after sharpening .

Excellent buy this file was a good deal and performs superbly.I do a lot of knife making as a hobby and therefore work on a lot of hardened steel. This file is a beast but is well balanced and very comfortable to use even for long periods of time. There is a smooth edge and a filed edge which is handy so you don't scratch up another surface when working on a 90 degree angle... if you know what I mean. Handle is comfortable and feels nice in the hand.Will definitely be buying more files from the Faithful range.
