Bought two of these reels for beach-casting and have used a coupe of times. Very happy with them so far, also like the fact they they come with a spare line spool so you can quickly change out line type quickly.

For Carp and Pike fishing I prefer to use reels which have a bait-feeder function as there are often situations where the rod and reel are placed on a rest for hours while waiting for a bite. The main advantage of this function is that the bale arm can be left closed and the lever at the rear of the reel pushed forward which then allows line to be pulled from the reel with a set amount of tension which is set by turning the dial on the rear of the reel. Then once the reel handle is turned the bait-feeder function is turned off and the main drag setting takes over.This Dr.Fish Bait-feeder reel is available in a range of sizes to suit the type of fishing it will be used for. It has a stainless steel main shaft and 10+1 bearings which help make the reel operate smoothly. Included with the reel are a draw string storage bag, spare spool and parts diagram. In use the line retrieve is relatively fast with a 5.1:1 gear ratio which was noticeable when I loaded the reel with line which only took a few minutes. The line lay is fairly even with a bias toward the bottom lip of the spool which I find helps prevent line spill from the front lip when the bale arm is left open. The bale arm closes with a positive action by turning the handle or closing it manually.Having used this reel a few times I like how smooth it is in operation combined with good casting distances. The main drag control does not require an excessive amount of turning to adjust line tension which I find helpful when playing larger fish. The overall finish of the reel is eye catching with the gold accents and it does feel well made and sufficiently sturdy for a range of fishing styles. Taking account of the build quality and inclusion of a spare spool and storage bag I consider this reel to be good value at this price point. So far the reel has performed very well in a variety of conditions and I have enjoyed using it. Recommended.
