Pretty good overall. Just a decent, "cheap" little night vision monocular. I like how it uses 18650 batteries, makes it easy to pickup extras. The digital zoom is pretty rough but overall not too shabby.

I think to sum this up, the night vision is great, the video quality is poor. We wanted to do some nighttime animal viewing. Bats and flying squirrels predominately. We did not want to freak them out, so night vision seemed like the best choice. Looking through the scope to see the critters was great, but later looking at the video we were disappointed. The scope could not keep up with their movements, so it was just a mess, the resolution was poor, there was no crispness to the picture. The instructions have to be downloaded. I am left eye dominant and this was setup poorly for a lefty.

This is blurry. I've included a couple pictures taken of a sign and tree across the road, approximately 50 yards away. Can't make out lettering on the sign, tree is blurry. The night shots are taken in the living room, literally from about 8-10 yards. Some of the letters of the shipping label can actually be made out. Maybe playing with brightness settings it could be improved by a little bit. The night shot of the tree is at approximately 30 yards. In summary, this is really a close up night scope, not designed for very long distance. Resolution for image capture is only 300K, and screen resolution is only VGA.For the price point of this device, and considering how cheap displays and camera sensors have become, this should have at least a 480/720p display and a camera sensor that provides at least 5 megapixels. Can't understand why Celestron would risk their brand reputation using cheap parts that is way behind today's technology.

I really liked this a lot. Super easy and simple to use.Used at night time (obviously) out in the county, sans street lights or houses, surrounded by fields, open property and ponds. I was able to see the corn stalks, cattails, etc.My husband comes from a family of hunters and when he used it he said it was a absolutely a good night scope. We haven’t seen any animals with them yet, it that is due to a lack of animals to be seen. My little brother is taking the scope on a fishing/hunting trip later in the season and will update me on its capabilities at that time, but he anticipates great things from them, just from his use of them around our property! These are easy to use, efficient, comes with all of the accessories you need to use them in their basic form, including an 8 GB memory card, and has tripod attachment capability!

I was tempted to give the item "2 stars" because it is really disappointing for a Celestron product. But "2 stars" seems at bit harsh.Harsh or not, "buyer beware." The price, for a "night vision device" is good. But the execution makes me wonder if it would be better to save more now to spend more later to get more. Let's start with what's good....Construction is quite nice; solid. I like the tripod mount capability (in fact, I would argue using a tripod is essential; more on this in a bit). The scope comes with an 8GB micro-SD card, a front lens rubber cover, a USB charging cable, a video cable, a quick start guide, and a nice storage bag. Even though the box (and quick start guide) say an AC plug doesn't come in the box, there was one in mine. Not at all heavy, either. If you have (or have used) a video handycam you'll feel quite at home with the form factor. But this is where the "good" ends.In no particular order, here are my concerns/dislikes. First, the aforementioned front lens cover will be easily lost. Unlike a video handycam where the lens cover is "strapped" to the unit this cover once removed has to be put in one's pocket. There is a bit of a lip on the cover so I might be able to jury-rig a strap so that I get what I have on my handycams.Eye relief is simply awful (especially, if you need to wear glasses). I'm going to have to get used to using this without glasses (which adds a level of inconvenience). The picture also "jiggles" quite a bit in the hand (which is why I think this is best used with a tripod). The controls (4 buttons on the top of the unit) are not terribly difficult to use, but that's not to say they're easy to use. One really needs to use this unit frequently to get a feel for the button locations and button touch or, if not frequently, very intentionally. Cycling through the menu to adjust settings (such as IR level, screen brightness, zoom, date, mode) is a real pain; just plain clunky. This unit begs to have a similar set-up as a handy cam: a flip-out screen (or something along those lines) to handle, at a minimum, the functions menu. The complete user manual must be downloaded. It isn't actually all that good. Yes, you'll know what to do and what the unit does, but it could have been better. For instance, you charge the item by opening up the rubber cover on the side of the unit and plug in the USB cable. A red LED comes on. The manual tells the user to charge at least 10 hours before first use. Okay, done. But after close to 15 hours the red light was still on. I would have thought the light would either go out or change color (to green, for example). But it doesn't. Annoying. Also, the manual says to insert the battery cathode (i.e., positive) side first. But that's incorrect. The negative (anode) side needs to go in first; the positive side needs to face forward. Perhaps the writers confused "cathode" and "anode"? And why not just say "positive" or "negative"? Btw, the date/time settings do not reset if you have to remove the battery for a minute or two.Yes, this unit works; it does what it's advertised to do. But that's only half of the story. The downside is that it just isn't fun using it. So get it if you need it, but I'm guessing you'll be looking for something better pretty quickly.3 stars.
