I bought this because I liked that there was a seal around the edge of the lid which I felt would help keep my sticks of butter longer out on the counter. Unfortunately, the seal is too fat? so it won't fully close and if it IS closed my God you have to use the jaws of life to get the lid back off! I guess that is something they know, and you're supposed to overlook. Okay fine, I just decided not to use the seal (they do provide two, I appreciated that, but both do not fit) and that is fine with me. You can only fit 1 (1/2 C) stick of butter in the dish, unless you were to let it soften and fill the dish I guess, then you could fit 2. I love the colors and absolutely LOVE that there is an option to buy with a knife (this is what I chose) so that I don't have to wash a knife each time I use the butter, or have a knife sitting lopsided in the dish, or whatever else you have to do with butter knife. All in all, I like this dish, I am pretty flexible and try to make things work so it wasn't a complete failure. I used butter from the dish last night and it was nice and soft and easily spreadable. Very happy for that. Hope that all helps!

I actually exchanged this item, hoping my first experience was a fluke, but the same issue happened with the replacement. The very moment I removed the lid from the butter dish, the seal broke apart and fell into the dish. I wanted to love it because it's attractive and the knife is a great addition, but it's useless without a functioning seal.

I really like this butter dish with the knife and wood lid. It has a simple but beautiful look. I like that it has a knife with a knife to sit in the lid. It came with two silicone rings for the lid, one was broken. I am very happy there was a second one. The silicone ring comes off easy too so it can be washed. They are asking a fair price for this butter dish in my opinion. Super cute!
