I tested this with a selection of known working (tested before and after) HDMI cables and USB-C data cables, as well as with multiple monitors with HDMI inputs and I could not get this to work as a 2nd screen for my laptop. I even checked the USB-C port on my laptop to verify the issue wasn't there, but it worked fine when connected to a different USB-C to HDMI adaptor. Plugging in, there is no sound to indicate new hardware added. Shame because it's very compact and would have been ideal for travel otherwise.
