(From the Husband)My hobby is tinkering with old Singer sewing machines. I have about thirty.Two of my machines, a model 413 and a model 457, had bad top, vertical gears. I ordered two gears from this seller. Unfortunately, the gears are out of spec just enough to bind and buzz (VERY LOUDLY).If you have a Singer with a bad top vertical gear, I recommend putting your machine in the trash and buying another Singer (that doesn’t use a top vertical gear) at a local thrift store for about $20. But, if you insist on doing this difficult, time consuming gear change, buy an original Singer gear. Trust me on this!New review entry: Two more gears arrived today (I ordered them before I installed the first two). I can now clearly see the “noise” problem: The holes in the gears are not centered! 😳 I am throwing these two new gears in the trash can. Also, I failed to mention that the the gears bind and I have to manually turn the hand wheel to get the machine started.These gears suck!
